Palmtop computers and electronic organisers might be fun to use, but they do
little to boost business productivity, according to a study by the Santa Cruz
Operation, a Californian software house. The SCO estimates that across Europe
£340 million worth of the devices are discarded every year because
employers don’t provide the equipment needed to support their use at work. Only
15 per cent of people are able to plug them into their office systems.
