Simon Ings is the author of nine novels. He spent some years editing New ������ý's culture pages and now contributes to New ������ý, The Telegraph, The Times, Financial Times and The Spectator. His latest non-fiction book is Engineers of Human Souls, about four 20th-century writers and the dictators who were their patrons.
