Two vets and a farmer have been enlisted to help the Royal Society deliver a
definitive report on foot and mouth disease. “The science is not just immunology
and virology. It bridges over into social science and economics,” says Brian
Follett, the zoologist from the University of Oxford chairing the society’s
15-member inquiry into the disease. Vaccination will be high on the panel’s
