An Internet service designed to find cheating students has been launched in
the US. It will compare essays against a database of previously submitted
papers. “If you know there is the potential to get caught, you’re not as likely
to plagiarise,” says Warren Brantner, president of Integriguard of Harrisburg,
Pennsylvania. Tutors sign up for about $5 a month and get their students
to e-mail their essays to Integriguard. Brantner’s database contains 600 essays
from a company that sells ready-written essays to students. New essays will be
added over time.
