Chrysler is developing a cheap plastic car that it hopes will sell well in
the developing world. The car’s bodywork is made of four injection-moulded
plastic pieces that snap together onto a lightweight steel chassis. Nearly 20
per cent of the plastic comes from recycled drinks bottles. The finished car
weighs around 500 kilograms, costs 拢4000 and does 50 miles to the gallon.
It is now undergoing crash tests.
