Soon you could be keeping the keys to your car in a wallet, along with your
credit cards. Swedish scientist Fred Goldberg has developed a smartcard that
doubles as a driving licence and an ignition key. The card would hold details of
all driving offences committed by the owner and which vehicles they were
qualified to drive. Drivers with too many penalty points on their licence or who
were not qualified to drive a particular vehicle would be unable to start the
engine.
