Students and teachers wanting information about gene
technology can visit a Web site established by the Australian government’s Gene
Technology Information Unit. The address is http://www.geneinfo.gtiu.gov
au. Topics on the site include gene technology and the environment,
patenting, and transgenics. The site was launched last October as the school
year was winding down. With the 1997 school year beginning last week, the site
is expected to quickly gain in popularity.
