There are many weird ideas about what technology means, from pyramids to
artificial minds. And yet there are far too many serious issues, from nuclear
energy to genetic engineering, to ignore the topic. If you’re confused (and
believe me you are) get Philosophy of Technology by Frederick Ferré
(University of Georgia Press, $12, ISBN 0 8203 1761 6) for a positive and
constructive tutorial on how to think clearly about technology.
